A fly on the wall look at the production of Gratitudes EP with Producer Mitta Norath.
We tracked the EP between May and September 2024, drums were done at Woodriver, everything else at Tommirock. The guys brought in finished demos which we used as the framework for the recording, either not much changing between the demo tracks and the EP.
Jack played Mitta’s 1969 Ludwig drum kit with a Gretsch Bell Brass snare, RED cymbals, which sounded fantastic in the large tracking room at Woodriver. Microphones were a mixture of Neumann, AEA, Shure, Peluso and OPR ribbon microphones, powered by API and Neve-style preamps (API on close mics, Neve on overheads and room).
Guitars were Fender Telecaster and Stratocasters played predominately through a Bad Cat Lynx captured with a Driftwood Reactive load box and GGD Goldstack cabs, with extra layers of other amp and pedal combinations.
Bass was Dom’s Fender J bass into Mitta’s Fender Super Bassman 300 into the Driftwood load box, with an IR captured by Mitta through his Ampeg Heritage 8×10.
Vocals were captured through a Peluso P67 into a Chandler LTD-1 with eq, STA-Level compressor and Purple MC77 1176.
