DMAS GLOBAL ONLINE CONCERT
This year, we were contacted by Stabal Music, a UK-based company who host their own unique streaming platform for artists all around the world, providing their own unique flavour of online performances and behind the scenes footage not seen anywhere else.
Looking to expand to Australia, Stabal notified us that the first artist on the list would be the DMA’s.
After being subjected to Joel’s unrelenting dad jokes on the way to Sydney, we finally made it to the shoot location, Carriage Works, a set of old warehouses now used for film sets, photo shoots and a bunch of other activities.
We waited a few hours whilst the lighting team assembled their crazy setup, using this time to prepare for a long day and night ahead with the source of just about every filmmakers life force… Coffee.
Stabals preference of cameras, to our benefit, were the absolute weapons that are Blackmagic cameras, so we grabbed the Ursa and 3 of our pocket cinema cameras for the job.
Joel on the URSA Mini Pro, Zac on the pocket 4k, and friends of Tommirock, Joel Colthorpe and Lachlan Rennie on the pocket 6k’s.
In the background, our lead audio engineer, Mitta Norath, would help with audio setup and capture and our newly appointed producer, Emily, would scramble around on phone calls trying to find last minute equipment hires needed for the shoot.
The actual shoot was to be a full set list of songs from the DMA’s, including some brand new unreleased material which we then finished up with a brief interview with the band where they recounted the day, discussed their new music, and future appearances.
Overall, it was a really fun experience and we look forward to teaming up with Stabal again for the next gig!
